Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations with God Inspired Singer Songwriter Robert Alder: He Asks How to Write a Book that Conveys a Message
TOnight I went to the Baxter Country Store in nearby Baxter, Missouri, which is just down the road from Lampe. I don’t know where the line is between my town and Baxter, but it’s there somewhere. Bob and Carla, owners of the BaxterCountry Store, host a potluck for the locals every month during the “off season.” We’re p[retty much tourist driven around here.
We have some really good cooks in the Lampe/Baxter area. Someone made phenomenal baked beans. Bob smoked pork and venison. I made a pan of brownies with cinnamon frosting, and there were plenty of other dishes and desserts. We all have pretty good appetites too, evidently, because lots of dishes went home full of memories of good eating but empty of food.
Silly me - I forgot the video camera tonight -- AAARRRRGH!!!! I guess I was too wrapped up in the US VS Canada hockey game and didn't put my thinking cap on my head before leaving!
I always enjoy getting acquainted with the neighbors and trying different foods, but this night was particularly special for me. Because one of the people I talked to turned out to be a singer/songwriter with a desire to write a book. And he's a kindred spirit with a desire to touch people's lives.
Bob Alder writes country songs and some with a Native American flare, and some "coffee house" type tunes as well. Some of his songs speak to the power of connecting and of peace. As a matter of fact, he wrote a couple of his songs while reading Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch. He doesn't have those songs on YouTube, but one of them is "Anthem for the earth," which is about the choices humans make that turn us away from our core.
Bob used to be a sheriff, and because he's handy with his voice and a guitar, he became the Singing Sheriff. He went to schools all over the Los Angeles area singing at schools. This became a wildly successful public relations campaign.
Bob and I connected immediately over our love of history, writing and music, and especially our desire to transmit an important message. Bob told me he used to want to write the greatest country song, but now he is much more interested in sharing his experiences and his message.
I told Bob about the Messenger Network and the Movement of Change, which is a program that both teaches how to write a book with a message and would also give him the arena for publishing and distributing his book along with other messengers. He was really excited about this, especially because Neale Donald Walsh is one of the teachers in the program.
The Peace Seed is a Messenger Mini-Book that is connected to some cool online technology that lets me
He also told me he liked how the special online environment that is part of a messenger book would let him share some of his music, stories and other material with the readers.
I'm excited to share some of Bob's music with you. One of his songs, "Blue Ribbon Ready," tells the stories of young men going off to wars that have no end, never to return.
he has a couple of his songs in Youtube. A company turned them into music videos but unfortunately disabled embedding. So although I can't show you the video directly, however I'll link you to it so that ->you can watch "Blue Ribbon Ready on YouTube.
I made a new friend tonight in Bob Alder, and we're scheming up some fun! Bob and carla are going to let me have a book launch party at the Country Store. Bob is going to sing, and he says he knows some other musicians who would probably come as well.
I'll get press releases out and hopefully the media will also come to share in the fun. We don't have a date yet, but it should be in April.
If you would like to know how to write a book that conveys a powerful message, you might like to join me and hopefully Bob as a Messenger Author in the Movement of Change. This program has 3 phases, and the it begins in March.
If you know you have a message to share and you want to hook up with other messengers and get your book published with HELP, then definitely get involved in the Movement of Change.
