Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, 2 September 2010 (By Tenzin Tsering, phayul.com) – The 50th anniversary celebrations of Tibetan democracy was commemorated today in Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement in India where the first Tibetan General Meeting concluded yesterday. At the official function at Sera monastic university, the Tibetan government and people honored their leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama with “the Golden Seal” for leading the Tibetan freedom struggle and for establishing democracy in Tibetan polity. The Tibetan leader accepted the award from Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan parliament in exile.

New Delhi, India, 1 September 2010 (AFP) – The Dalai Lama has condemned battery hen farming and is urging consumers to switch to buying eggs from chickens kept outside of cages, a statement said Wednesday. “Turning these defenseless animals into egg-producing machines with no consideration for their welfare whatsoever is a degradation of our own humanity,” the Buddhist spiritual leader said.

I will continue working for Tibet till I die, but in a different capacity where I will be good and most efficient at,” said the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama here Tuesday. The Tibetan leader who arrived in the largest Tibetan settlement yesterday was responding to a resolution that appealed him to continue his leadership. His Holiness was speaking to around 350 participants of the first Tibetan National General Meeting that concluded at the Sera monastery Tuesday.
